Netflix has just added a new feature that promises to be very useful for its millions of users, who will now be able to tell if someone else is using their account without permission.
Although most devices belong to you, some may be unknown to you. This means that someone (perhaps a friend) knows your Netflix password and is using it without your knowledge. To identify strange devices, simply check the location of the device and its IP address. If it shows a place that you have never visited, then most likely someone has stolen your password. Here’s how to manage this feature:
- Access the official Netflix page from your favorite browser
- Log in with your account and access your profile
- Go to options and choose Account
- Go to device security and privacy
- There you will see the new Manage Access and Devices option.
If you found one or more foreign devices using your Netflix account, it is recommended that you sign out of all devices and change their password, so they cannot sign in again. To do this, you must follow these steps:
- In the Netflix options, go to the section “Subscription and Billing”
- There you will find the option change password

Recent device streaming activity should show which device was used, including web browsers, smart TVs, and phone apps. You can also notice the device’s IP address, location, time and date when the unknown device accessed your Netflix account.
Check this box to identify profiles that you do not recognize. If there’s another profile you can’t identify, someone else may be using your Netflix account. For example, if you live in France and you see someone log in to your account from another country, it’s likely that your account has been hacked.
If you recognized a friend’s device or IP address, for example, but that they shouldn’t be using your account, simply remove it from your Netflix account.
