How to remove mold from bathroom tile grout

adminDecember 23, 2022

Mold is a common problem in the home. This thrives in wet kitchen and bathroom areas, such as tile joints. Dangerous for health, these blackish traces must be removed as soon as the first signs appear. Discover a simple and natural trick to get rid of it.

Bathroom tile joints are particularly susceptible to mold. The latter also accumulate on the walls and around the toilets. Cleaning this essential part is therefore essential to ensure a healthy and clean living environment. There are many methods for this purpose, but one of them proves to be particularly effective in the event of a major mold attack.

Traces of mold around the tiles are not aesthetic. To eliminate them in depth, you can opt for a natural pharmaceutical solution.

  • Hydrogen peroxide, a radical solution for mold in tile joints

When tile joints become permeated with mold, hydrogen peroxide or hydrogen peroxide can be effective and easy to use. Indeed, Its antifungal and antibacterial properties offer a radical solution to stubborn grout stains. Just apply it liberally with a sprayer. Therefore, let the product act on the areas affected by mold. After about twenty minutes, scrub the joints with a sponge or old toothbrush and wait an hour. Once the hydrogen peroxide odor is gone, wipe the critical surface with a clean, dry cloth. It should be noted that hydrogen peroxide can lose its effectiveness in light. Then it should be stored in dark bottles or dark places for future use.

Other tips for cleaning tile joints naturally

Hydrogen peroxide isn’t the only solution for dirty tile joints. Other natural remedies can be adopted to remove stains from grout and tile walls in the bathroom. For guaranteed effectiveness, this room must be cleaned and ventilated regularly.

  • Borax, the anti-mold solution for clean and healthy tile joints

One of the effective products against mold is borax. Like hydrogen peroxide, this solution is capable of removing mold from joints, giving them whiteness and shine. Mix a cup of borax powder with 3.5 liters of water. Using a brush soaked in this solution, scrub the entire surface of the black stamps. When you’re done, wipe with a clean, damp cloth. The alkaline pH level of this product suppresses mold and prevents mold from forming in the joints. Borax can also irritate the skin, so gloves should be worn before each use.

  • Baking soda and elbow grease, a powerful duo against mold in tile joints

Borax can be replaced with baking soda. This white powder acts in the same way against mold in joints. Therefore, simply add a teaspoon of baking soda to a spray bottle (500ml) filled with warm water. Then, spray the solution over the tile joints and allow it to sit for up to an hour. The stain remover will thus be embedded inside the joints to deeply eradicate mold and dirt. Another trick is to use a baking soda paste. To do this, simply mix baking soda with some water to make a thick paste. After having applied it on the joints with the help of a brush. Scrub the area with a sponge, then rinse!

  • White vinegar, remedy against mold in tile joints

It will also be very effective on small incipient mold spots. Simply pour the solution into a spray bottle, and then spray the affected area. Allow to sit for a few minutes, then with a soft brush or sponge, scrub the joints before rinsing. You can also use tea tree oil in the same way as vinegar. Thanks to its antifungal and antibacterial properties, it will guarantee the same results.
