How to extend battery life

adminJanuary 13, 2023

The battery, an essential component of the mobile phone, is often put to the test. If you don’t treat her right, she will scare you too. Unfortunately, we usually make a multitude of errors that can affect its proper functioning. However, it is up to you to take the appropriate measures to preserve it and prolong its life. Here are some tips to follow to get the most out of your performance.

Limit the use of very cheap chargers

Have you lost your original charger or is it simply damaged? Today there are several quality chargers that can replace this cable. Unfortunately, many cheap and unreliable models are sold on the market. The ideal is always to have a cable and an adapter from the manufacturer, appropriate for your mobile to avoid any damage. But, to save money, many users buy low-cost chargers whose materials are not standard. Be careful with them as they can damage your device in the long run. Although the charge seems fast at first, after a while the battery discharges faster and the mobile starts to overheat at the slightest charge. So be careful and opt for an original or certified cable.

Do not charge your mobile overnight

It’s a common misconception: most people have gotten used to leaving their smartphone connected to the cable overnight. It reassures them to think that it will be operational when they wake up. But that’s a very bad idea. What you don’t know is that it significantly reduces battery life. And that also applies to a new mobile phone. Repeatedly fully charging for several hours can damage the battery, especially in the long run. Not to mention that the device can overheat overnight: you damage some of its internal components. Despite the adaptation of smart chargers, it is advisable not to exceed the threshold of 80% charge. Also, the best practice is to never charge the cell phone for more than 2 hours.

Beware of extreme temperatures!

Surely you’ve heard it somewhere: lithium batteries, which are used in most of today’s smartphones, do not work properly when subjected to extreme temperatures. In fact, the ions tend to wear down the material, which reduces the duration of the charging cycles. The best solution to make the charge last longer is to avoid exposing your device to very high or very low temperatures. So, for example, we advise you to be very careful when using an application in the car or on the beach. Make sure the device is not exposed to direct sunlight as it can quickly overheat. Always look for a shady place to manipulate your mobile. This also applies when charging the battery. Therefore, you should never charge your device near a window or on a table exposed to direct sunlight.

reduce brightness

You may not know it, but the screen of a Smartphone consumes a lot of battery. However, simply by reducing the brightness, you can save a lot of energy and make your device work longer. Do not hesitate to activate the automatic brightness that will further protect the battery by spontaneously reducing the brightness of the screen during the day, for example. Scientists also recommend lowering the screen brightness before going to sleep. In this way, you will not only save battery life, but you will also protect your eyes from the blue light emitted by the screen.

Expert advice on charging

Unlike older models, it is recommended to charge your smartphone before it reaches a critical battery level. Therefore, experts recommend keeping your device between 20-80% battery for optimal charge levels. When the charge exceeds 80%, it forces and degrades the ion cells of the battery, causing its autonomy to decrease over time. The same thing happens when the battery drops below 20%. So follow this sage advice to conserve your battery and prolong its useful life.
