A glass of red, white, gray or rosé wine enhances the flavor of a dish. After emptying the bottle, some immediately throw it away, while others have fun throwing a handful of rice into it and they are right, because this natural trick is ingenious and effective. We explain everything to you below!

At first glance, when you are told about putting rice in empty wine bottles, it seems like a recycling idea that has a decorative connotation. But it is far from the case. Actually, you may be surprised to know the role of cereal!

Why do you have to put rice in wine bottles?

Sometimes it can be difficult to reuse empty wine bottles, as the smell and traces of the wine can get embedded inside. Also, due to the neck, cleaning them with a simple sponge is not easy. But there is a more practical solution and all you need is rice. To use this cheat, nothing could be simpler. After completely emptying the bottle and rinsing it out, pour a handful of rice into the container. Using a funnel, fill a quarter of the bottle and add ½ cup of boiling water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Then close with the lid and shake vigorously. The rice grains will need to be moved to clean dirt and tough stains stuck to the sides. Keep shaking the bottle for a few minutes before emptying it and rinsing it with clean water. It will be like new!
