How to use WD-40 to clean the house

adminJanuary 23, 2023

WD 40 multifunctional synthetic oil is a very popular lubricant among motorists who usually use it for car engine repair and other maintenance work. And for good reason, its composition makes it the ideal product to protect metal from rust and corrosion. It is also known to protect surfaces from moisture. But this lubricating oil is much more versatile than you might think. You may be surprised by its potential, since it can serve you in many ways at home. Find out why you should use it in household cleaning!

Before cleaning, be sure to leave the windows and doors open, as the room needs to be very well ventilated. Once this is done, spray a small amount of WD-40 directly onto the entire surface of the toilet bowl. Leave it on for about 10 to 15 minutes. If this area is full of lime deposits and the stains are very tough, spray on a little more oil and let it sit overnight. The effect will be even more powerful. All you have to do is use a toilet brush to carefully scrub the entire surface. Rinse and admire the result: your toilets are sparkling clean!

Did you know that this product has the ability to preserve wood? Many people did not know this, but WD-40 oil is recommended for cleaning wooden furniture. Lubricates and protects the wood from the harmful effects of moisture, enough to maintain your outdoor furniture. Just be sure to wipe off any excess product before it dries, as it can leave behind a greasy residue.

Removal of permanent marker marks on walls.

What could be more unsightly than these marker stains that make our walls and tiles look ugly? Fortunately, WD-40 solvent is strong enough to remove these traces very quickly. But, because it’s a permanent marker, some surfaces are harder than others. If they are the kitchen or bathroom walls, which have a layer of glossy paint, you will be able to remove the stains more easily. Even the ones that stick to tiles. On the other hand, if other walls have a matte finish, you’ll probably find it more difficult to remove them or at least leave them looking good.

That’s how:

  • Soak a paper towel or clean rag in WD-40.
  • Apply directly to permanent marker marks.
  • First let the solvent soak deep into the wall for about 30 seconds.
  • Then gently rub the area in small circular motions.
  • Go slowly, because if you apply too much pressure, you can smear the marker around the wall.
  • Once most of the marker has been removed, you can rub a little more vigorously towards the end.

manual degreasing

Unexpectedly, applying such a solvent to your very oily hands will help you noticeably reduce dirt and clean your hands even before applying the soap suds. The procedure is simple: rub your hands with the product, taking care to slide it well with your fingers to remove any accumulation of grease. Once they’re degreased, you can wash them using enough soap to completely remove any remaining WD-40 lubricant.

Finally, keep this little trick in mind. If you are experiencing pain in the joints of your hands and they are swollen, it is likely that you are having trouble removing rings from your fingers quickly. The good news is that WD-40 oil is also a very useful remedy for making a tight ring slip on quickly. Simply spray your ring with a generous dose of the product to lubricate the swollen finger. You can then remove the ring more easily.
