adminFebruary 6, 2023

Getting down to business to clean the kitchen hood is not an easy and pleasant activity. Fortunately, there are several effective methods approved by our grandmothers to simplify this task. Thus, stubborn grease and dust will disappear in no time. Here’s how to make your cooker hood glow with home hacks.

  • Dishwashing liquid to remove dirt

Dishwashing liquid is ideal for removing stubborn dirt and grease from the cooker hood. To carry out its cleaning, you will need a large bowl, in which you pour half a glass of dishwashing liquid and hot water. Then mix the solution well until it forms a foam. Use a sponge to thoroughly clean the entire hood. Then rinse the sponge to clean the hood again. Finally, dry the surface with paper towels or a dry kitchen towel.

  • Vinegar Water to Fight Hood Grease

Vinegar water is an old method of removing hood grease, and a very effective one at that. To do this, you will need vinegar, a spray bottle, and warm water.

First, mix equal parts of water and vinegar and pour it all into the sprinkler. Carefully spread this solution on the grid as well as the rest of the device. Let the mixture rest for 15 minutes. After this time has elapsed, use the pointed end of the sponge to gently remove any stubborn dirt, then wipe with a damp cloth and dry the hood with paper towels or a dry cloth.

  • Olive oil for a clean cooker hood

As it turns out, olive oil can have many uses in a kitchen, especially cleaning the range hood. First, apply a small amount of oil to the entire surface of the hood using a sponge. Then cover it with a microfiber cloth soaked in warm water. After a few minutes, scrub everything down with a sponge and wipe clean.

  • A dishwasher tablet for a hood like new

To avoid the accumulation of grease and dirt in the hood, clean it with a mixture of hot water and dishwasher tablets that will melt. Begin by spraying the areas to be cleaned. Let the solution sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the amount of embedded dirt. Then use a damp cloth to easily remove the grease.

  • Baking soda for a clean hood

Baking soda is our best ally in many household tasks. It has strong cleaning properties as it is a caustic substance. First, bring the water to a boil in a medium saucepan, then add two tablespoons of baking soda. The mixture will start to foam after a few minutes, this means it is ready to use. Use a sponge soaked in this foam to carefully clean the entire surface of the hood and vent. If the entrance is too narrow, clean those hard-to-reach areas with a toothbrush. Finally, dry the entire hood and grill with paper towels or a microfiber cloth.

  • Salt and limestone for a nickel bell.

For effective cleaning of your cooker hood, use a solution based on salt and limestone by mixing the ingredients in hot water. Apply the mixture to your hood with a soft cloth, then rinse and buff for a flawless result.

  • Lemon to clean the hood

To clean your range hood, boil water with lemon or lemon juice. Turn on the range hood to draw in the steam for 15 minutes. After that, wipe the hood with a soft cloth, rinse and wipe it.

To clean your cooker hood filters that are clogged with grease, you must first remove them using the retaining clip located on the front or side depending on the model. Prepare a cleaning bath in your sink or bathtub, then submerge your filters in it. You can soak them in a solution of boiling water, baking soda, and dish soap for 30 minutes, or use a mixture of boiling water and black soap flakes. Once the filters foam, use a soft brush to scrub them, rinse them with clean water and let them dry. Once clean, the filters are ready to be used again.

For the final maintenance of your hood, clean the exterior walls. Dampen a soft cloth with isopropyl alcohol and gently wipe the entire device to restore its shine. If your range hood is a traditional range hood with a chimney covered with plaster or wallcovering, use a small vacuum brush to remove any dust, then wipe with a damp cloth and some mild cleanser.
