In winter, each of us dresses appropriately for the season and chooses a pair of warm shoes before leaving the house. However, shoes do not always fulfill their function of keeping our feet warm or protecting us from humidity and cold. Discover these tips to keep your feet warm in winter.
Place the rice in the sock.
Cold winter days can really put a strain on our feet. Nothing worse than putting on your icy shoes before going out! Even if you took a hot shower and drank a hot coffee or tea, it only takes a few seconds in your shoes to ruin everything. Luckily, I have a super simple hack that will make your mornings that much more enjoyable.

Take a clean sock, fill it with salt, rice or beans and tie it tight with a string or elastic band. Heat the sock in the microwave for about a minute (no more!). Check if it’s hot enough for you, and if necessary, microwave it again for a few more seconds. Then place the warm sock in your shoes and allow it to slowly release its heat. Your feet will love this!
Choose the right socks
If you suffer from cold feet, the first thing to think about is choosing the right socks. Although cotton socks are breathable and comfortable, they do not have an insulating function and therefore do not heat up the feet. Instead, try wool socks which, on the other hand, insulate well and absorb moisture better. If you are worried that a slightly thicker woolen sock will no longer allow you to fit your feet into the shoe, you can also buy wool insoles, which will also perform this function effectively!

Choosing the right footwear according to the weather and the outside temperature is essential to keep your feet warm in winter. So opt for shoes with thick, waterproof soles, and don’t forget to maintain them regularly to make them last longer and protect your feet from moisture.
Once you get home, let your shoes dry well by slipping them on some crumpled paper, for example, which will absorb any excess moisture. And if you have cold feet, move! Walk, jump, dance… everything is good to increase your body temperature and circulate blood in your legs, which will then heat up.
Sleeping with cold feet will prevent you from falling asleep. In fact, during sleep, your brain tries to maintain a homologous temperature.
Soak your feet in lukewarm water.
Soaking your feet in warm water is not only relaxing, but it can also help you fall asleep faster as it stimulates blood circulation. The water temperature should be between 36°C and 38°C.
What do you need to do:
- Soak your feet in lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes.
- Dry them when you’re done.
- Use moisturizer last.

Massage your feet with vegetable oils.
You can massage your feet with different types of oils, such as olive, coconut, and avocado, to warm them up. In fact, these oils have anti-inflammatory properties that promote blood circulation. In addition, they are also healthy and beneficial for the skin.
